MINDLESS SINNER was a Swedish heavy metal band formed 1981 in Ryd, Linkping. The first line-up of MINDLESS SINNER were Christer Gransson (vocals), Magnus Danneblad (guitar), Anders Karlsson (guitar), Magnus van Wassenaar (bass) and Tommy Johansson (drums). At this time though, the band was known as PURPLE HAZE. After a while they changed the name to GENOCIDE, which is a song by Judas Priest (whom they were heavily influenced by).

Later in 1981, the band made their first live performance as warm-up to another Swedish band called AXEWITCH. The band played on and became more and more well known in their hometown.

But in 1982, Magnus van Wassenaar decided to quit the band. Instead of taking in a new bassplayer, Anders Karlsson went from his six-string to a four-string. At this point they changed the bands name to MINDLESS SINNER.

In 1983, the band decided to become a five-piece band again, so guitarist Jerker Edman joined the band in May 1983. At June 1983, they won a music contest, and the money that they got from it was enough to make the record that they've wanted to do for so long.

And so, at the end of the year, they recorded their debut-EP called "Master Of Evil". It was released in January 1984 and it contains four songs. They kept on touring and they had plans to record another album in October 1984. But only two weeks before the session would start, Anders Karlsson had an accident and cut up his hand very bad. The injury was so bad, that he wouldn't be able to play for a very long time. After that, he never returned to the band.

Instead of bringing in another bassplayer, Christer Gransson played the bass on all of the tracks on the new album called "Turn On The Power" (released in early 1986 due to fuss with the record company). When they started to mix the album, they found their new bassplayer: Christer Carlson. On the back sleeve of the album it reads that he plays the bass on the album, but the only thing he contributed with was "the horror voice" on the song "Voice Of The Doomed".

In 1987 the name was changed to just MINDLESS and they began to record new songs. The material was released on the album 'Missin 'Pieces (1989)'. They spent most of the time to tour around, but in 1990 Tommy had enough and the band played their farewell show in Stockholm, December 1990. The remaining members of the group continued to play with AXEWITCH drummer Mats Johansson under the name SKINNY HORSE. They made one album called 'No Pain No Gain (1993)'. After that, Christer Gransson and Magnus Danneblad had various projects with bands such as FLUFF and EVERLONE.

MINDLESS SINNER had a reunion concert in November 3rd, 2001 with the setting that was before Tommy dropped out. They continued to play together and on February 16, 2002 MINDLESS SINNER performed on the Motala Metal Festival together with, among others ICED EARTH and BLITZKRIEG. They recorded the entire concert and then spread them out on reissued CD's.

MINDLESS SINNER broke up again sometime in 2004 but reformed in 2014 for the Muskelrock festival.

Info from Janne Stark's Encyclopedia
Mindless Sinner started out in 1981 featuring guitarist Magnus Danneblad and Anders Karlsson, bass player Magnus Van Wassenaar and drummer Tommy Johansson, as Purple Haze (not the band on Plebb Records). Later the same year, singer Christer Gransson joined. They changed the name to Genocide and in September 1981 supported local metal heroes Axewitch. In 1982 Wassenaar left and Anders Karlsson switched from guitar to bass. Late 1982 they also changed their name to Mindless Sinner. In April 1983 the band recorded their first five-track demo. After this they added second guitarist Jerker Edman. After winning a local bandstand they made enough money to record the 'Master of Evil' demo, which attracted Web Records who released the demo as the band's first MLP in 1984. The style was quite average Tygers of Pan Tang-sounding heavy metal. The band had a fit when they saw the record cover with the misspelled name (Mindless SinnerS) and the awful cover. When it was time to record the first album, in October 1984, Anders had an accident and cut his hand so bad, he could not play anymore. Gransson took care of the bass parts on the album instead and after the album Christer Carlsson was added to the line-up. Despite his face being on the cover, he only contributed with some "horror" vocals on one track. Web Records went bust shortly after the release, but in 1986 the band made a deal with local Delta Records and started recording follow-up. In 1987 they finished the recording and also shortened their name to Mindless. The album was finished in 1988, but released just after the New Year, in 1989. They also have a track on the 'Great Metal Attack' compilation. Twelve new tracks were recorded in 1989, but when Tommy left in 1990 Mindless disbanded. However only a month later the remaining foursome reformed the band with former Axewitch skinsman Mats Johansson. They changed their name to Skinny Horse and released the CD 'No Pain No Gain'. Christer, Danne and also drummer Tommy were later found in the Wildhearts/Green Day influenced band Fluff, who changed their name to Everlone, released an album and split in 2001. The same year the band reunited for a gig at a local biker club. They also played the Motala Metal Festival 6, which was recorded. In 2003 German label High Vaultage reissued the band's albums on their sub-label Metal For Muthas, packed with bonus material and a lenghty biography from where most information was taken.
Interview / Bio (from SRF Magazine #100 - 2013)

- I oktober 1984 gick vi in i studion och spelade in 'Turn on the Power' sger han.

Sttningen var densamma som hade spelat in 'Turn on the Power': Christer Gransson, Magnus Danneblad (gitarr), Jerker Edman (gitarr), Christer Carlsson (bas) och Tommy Johansson (trummor).
