Rising (Swe / Ängelholm) - Song for a Mad Emperor

Once a madman ruled the world, with fire and death
Once mankind was left to burn in this world
They didn´t know why and we don´t know why
He didn´t explain and only fools are left to cry

The flames are getting higher behind me
and the ground burns my feet

Things of ancient seems to come again and again
We will have no explanation when we are left to die
A mushroom cloud will slowly rise in the sky
We will die and noone will be left to cry

The flames are getting higher behind me
We saw them die and they will see us die

They say the emperor is playing his lyre
He sits on his roof and watches Rome burn
With each building that crumbles in smoke
His laughter gets stronger and stronger

He couldn´t kill the foe inside his mind
The flames burn in his eyes
But when Rome falls he will die too

Refr:
The night calls its believers
They are gathered in the flame
Watch Rome burn!

Tell them to stop it, we cry in the smoke
But no one listens and we are silenced
God doesn´t hear and the devil laughs
And the fire turns night to day

He couldn´t kill the foe inside his mind
The flames burn in his eyes
But when Rome falls he will die too

(spoken)
That year it had been foretold that the beast was near
But the cross was still strong and stars shone bright at night
The emperor killed the holy with fire and flame. Could he be the one?
The city of the world was bright in the fire
But as the flames rose higher, the emperor laughed at the nightsky

Now the sun rises and the morning has come
You can see the destruction everywhere
The emperor is dead but his evil remain
We killed Nero and threw salt on his grave

He couldn´t kill the foe inside his mind
The flames burn in his eyes
But when Rome falls he will die too
