Official Biography from Insert: Achilleus, the group with the mythical and heroic name, formed 1978. These recordings are culled from the period 1982-1984 when the band was at it's most intense and creative. All tracks are live in the studio with vocals and some instrumental parts overdubbed afterwards. At last in album form, the most frenetically rehearsing and composing rock band from Kolsva. What serparates this from much of today's music is the living energy and the presence that was Achilleus'. There was never any ambition to imitate anything else, although some influences from different directions may inevitably be heard. The band rather looked for it's own system of sounds. It seems they found it.
1. Ett Ord Till (One More Word) is a typical Achilleus song with interwoven riffs, manic drumming and a healthy dose of Hammond. Acid lyrics about a person travelling with untruth in the luggage. We see straight through the little rascal as easy as if he were Pinocchio.
2. Som En Tjuv Om Natten (Like a Thief in the Night) speeds up and blends folk music harmonies, waltzing and rousing solo part where keyboards and guitar elevate the sense of hope. I saw you smile. The nightmare is over. Sizzling keyboardbacking makes sure the concoction is kept hot.
3. Snabbare Än Tiden (Faster Than Time), a favourite among favourites where the group creates a groove entirely of its own. Fades out when the jam started. Achilleus never needed songs to be able to play... Here, the original take is cut down to make it fit on the record.
4. Ägget (The Egg), silent reflection. Careful with the matches, children. Organ and synth wraps it all in.
5. Olösta Fall (Unsolved Cases). Backbeat bass and healthy riffing. Patric contributes with some vocals in the bridge. The finale features an overdose of Fender guitar, as is proper.
6. I Väntan På Något Bättre (In Attendance of Something Better). Korg monosynth with free reins, dreamy atmospheres, hypnosis and trance. Just don't wait too long. Someday t he band may be in a position to publish the whole song with all it's segments. It will be more than as much again...
7. Så Många Sagor (So Many Tales) and there has hardly been less commercials since then. Cool five-to-the-beat groove seldom heard on lists or anywhere else for that matter. The guitar undergoes surgery in the midsection, accompanied by drawbars. Together with the endswing and the intro this song forms a group of four segments joined to a single piece. Symbolizing each of the group members? and if so, who is which?
8. Fällan (The Trap), strict, structured and usual eccentric. The hammond is caught at its most roaring mood. The wurlitzer piano has it's own calm commentaries.
