Tagetes (Swe)

Tagetes was a melodic / rock band from Örebro active 1984 - 1987 named after the flower. They did about 30 gigs and performed all over Sweden; Rock-SM 1986, where the band was placed in fourth place. 2 final places in the Talent Hunt in Örebro, a number of other competitions, as well as lead with Clabbe in Karlskoga Ice Hall 1985 for 4,000 in the audience. Tagetes was also a support band for Little Mike & The Sweet Soul Band in Karlskoga Folkpark and opened at the Ski SM in Garphyttan.

The local hit "Mocka På En Fotboll" became a national plague all over Sweden during the 1985 football championship and later became the B-Side of the band's first single. In 1985 Tagetes played in Skara sommarland supporting Tone Norum with Bert Karlsson in the front row. Unfortunately, there was no record contract with Marianne Records as Bert thought the band had far too many members. The song "Du, Du, Du Kan Ge Skivkontrakt" that was dropped the following year didn't seem to convince Bert either. After all, Bert became a big fan of the band and Tagetes' second single DAF sees Bert on the back cover with a Tagete flower in his hand. The B-side was ironically called "You, You, You Can Give A Record Deal".

They have a unreleased demo-track called "Du Ska Vattna Vår Rabatt" which was included on the digital reissue 'Omplanterade Blommor' which collect the bands both singles.
