Sinderella - The Swedish Independent Rock Association was formed in the spring of 1989. Sinderella will put independent rock on the map of Swedish music and make bands outside the Swedish music establishment available to a larger audience. The first of many steps to come in the process is this CD compilation with some of the best bands on the Swedish independent rock scene.

The Maryland Cookies
The band started up in the fall of -85 as a five-piece rock'n'roll group. After just a couple of months they got signed to Rainbow Music. Their first record, released March -86, was the single Don't Lie To Me / Into The Primitive which recieved very good rewiews especialy in Sweden and the UK. They have also released two albums Flesh, Tash & Heat (-87) and the latest Open Up! where Dead And Gone is taken from. The Open Up! album was released in June -88 and also got very good rewiews which resulted in a tour through Finland. The music has developed since the first 7" into a more melodic type of rock, it's pure classic song- writing on the latest album, and as a finnish magazine wrote after the tour "Shit! This band should be playing stadiums in the states".

Savage Holiday
Savage Holiday was formed 1984 and released their first single 1986. It took three years before their next single was to be found in the record shops. Not only time separates the two recordings, but also musical influences. The band has developed a fast, agressive type of new-wave rock sound. A sound that is charac- teristic for the releases on Ambush. Ambush Records was founded in Gävle 1984. The first release was The Bizzarre Ochestra's 12" single Land, which was followed by records with Metal Mean Machine, Bang-Too, Savage Holiday and further records with Bizare Orchestra. The next release is a new single with Metal Mean Machine.

Charta 77
The Song: Taken from the album Institution, Justice And Poverty (SKIT010). Recorded at Studio Kuling and Spelhålan between Dec -88 and Mar -89 by Jonas Kuling. Mixed by Tomas Gabrielsson and produced by Tomas Gabrielsson / Charta 77.

The Band: With roots in the late 70's mixed with a slice of metal this trio from the industrial town Köping keep going. The band are Jonny Smedberg (guitar), Leif Ekring (drums & vocals) and Per Granberg (vocals & bass).

The Label: From 1983 and "Do it yourself" to 1989 and "Do it much better", 10 records wiser and with bands. like Charta 77 and The Past the future seems a little brighter.

The Jukon Speakers
Recorded Dec 88 at Haunted Hill studios, Umeå. Produced by The Speakers and Pan Pot Paj. The Band as we know and love it made its live debute in 1982. They released their first 7", The Crusher, in 1983. Since then The Speakers have released two more singles, a mini-LP and a full length album. Garageland Records was formed in 1983 from the ashes of a company called Brute Force. The owners are Lars Gillèn and Tommy Persson. The label started out as a sixties re- issue label but soon we started to put out records by groups. from the north of Sweden, such as Psychotic Youth and Pinheads. Now we put out anything from speed to sixties pop. Up until now we have released 30 records. Garageland Records also have a recording studio and a shop. All in the same house in Umeå.

Oskar Obefintlig
The three piece group Oskar Obefintlig plays every- thing from punk to tango, using fiddle and accordion together with howling guitars and popping samplers. Live they are a remarkable experience. The Solar Lodge
Suddenly... Just when you thought it was over, from the backstreets of Stockholm, risen out of the highly explosive materia that only a collision between Boney M and Iggy Pop can cause, they struck the world. Although the band started 1988 they have already released two singles (A Reflection and The Sacrist) and one six-track album (Swallow This!). Hollywood Indians
The Hollywood Indians was formed in the late summer of 1983, and only a couple of months later CBS took them under their wings. After three singles, one unreleased album and a smaller scandal (when the band beat up a journalist) they left the company. In 1987 the Band took farewell with their fourth single. Dalberg (vocals), Peegs (bass) and Åke (guitarr) went of to work on different solo projekts, while John Thomas (guitar) became a teacher and Nyqvist (drums) left for the USA. But here is the 90's and The Indians are on their way back!
