Official Biography in English
Palimpsest started to play together in the summer of 1987 in Trans, Sweden and was formed by Fredrik Grehn, guitar, Jimmy Karlsson, bass and Ante Holmqvist, drums (Ante had just moved to Trans from the far north areas of Sweden). After a while we found Mathias Adamsson, from the nearby city Nssj, for the vocals. About six months later Frederic Johansson joined as a second guitarist, which made the bands sound much heavier. After a few months of rehearsing and a few gigs, we entered the studio and recorded our first cassette "Eat More Meat" which was released by Fredriks fanzine, Byt Ben. That was the story about Palimpsest first lineup, because a couple of months after the release of "Eat More Meat" and a few gigs later, we decided to take a break. The first lineup of Palimpsest played hardcoremusic inspired by American bands like Circle Jerks, Dag Nasty, Articles of Faith and more.

In the end of 1989 we started up Palimpsest again, this time with a different lineup and a completely different sound. The new Palimpsest lineup was Fredrik, Frederic (who also took over the vocals), Ante and Berit "Bibban" Aztor, who was the new bassplayer. Palimpsests new sound was more like some kind of heavy underground music, mixed up with rock and metal influences.

1990 we recorded two demotapes and one of them was released. The cassette that was released gave us a lot of gigs (for example at Swedens largest musicfestival, Hultsfredsfestivalen), particularly in the southern parts of Sweden. One of our songs, "A Non-working Hero", became "the song of the week" in the nationwide radioshow Inferno. The band also contributed on several compilation tapes and records.

During the autumn 1991 the whole band moved from Trans, to a house in the very southern parts of Sweden. The purpose was to rehearse a lot and become the best band ever or something like that. Unfortunatly it did not work out so well, mostly because of financial problems. The bandmembers left the house in December 1991 and in the beginning of 1992 Fredrik left the band and was then replaced by the guitarist Charles Persson. When Fredrik left the band, the band moved to Malm, in the south of Sweden. 1992 Palimpsest released the 7" vinyl "Worn Out" in co-operation with Wounded Records. I'm not sure what happened to Palimpsest in 1992 , but I think the band sort of died sometimes in the end of 1992 or in the beginning of 1993.

Official Biograph in Swedish

1992 slppte Palimpsest singeln "Worn Out" p Wounded Records. Ngon gng i
