Breaker was a melodic hard rock/metal band from Ludvika, originally formed in 1983 after evolving from different line-ups and names since 1979. The group recorded at least two demos, released in 1985 and 1986. Some copies also featured a live recording of their song "Power & Glory".

"No Way" from their 1985 demo was featured on the Swedish radio show Studio Skrän in 1985

Info (from Hot Rockin' #13 written by Lennart "Phantom" Larsson)
Breaker was formed in 1983, but has existed with different line-ups and names since 1979. The only members who have been in the line-up from the beginning are guitarist Thomas Lundström and bassist Henrik Johansson. The other members have worked in the band from time to time, starting with singer Krister Andersson in 1980, followed by guitarist Åke Nordahl in 1981. Keyboardist Tommy Palo joined in 1983, the same year drummer Hans Silfverlin joined, but after half a year he left the band again. However, he rejoined the group in the fall of '85 and these people are thus the recent line-up.

After Hans came back again, things have really rolled for them and everything looks promising. They have played a good 50 gigs over the years, mostly in the local area, but also larger, e.g. together with Europe.

During '85 they recorded a 4-track demo, and one of these tracks "No Way" was played on the radio program Studio Skrän, which only plays Swedish hard rock/heavy metal. The group has also had a 1 1/2 hour program on the local radio station. They have also already recorded a new 2-track demo, as well as a video for the track "Hold On" from the same demo. Most tracks are written by Krister and Thomas, but everyone helps with the arrangements. Musically, Breaker appeals to those of you who like catchy, yet ripping metal! The keyboard is very prominent and as for the solos, these are split between guitar and keyboard, which is interesting, but I personally think they get a bit too long at times. As for the vocals, I don't really know what to think, as it sounds good one minute and pretty bad the next!.

"Hold On" is a medium-tempo track with a melodic chorus that goes straight in. "Night After Night" starts quietly before picking up as a slow track. The song is mixed far forward in the soundscape and the instruments are just a backdrop, here too there is a melodic chorus that goes right in. "Tell Me Why" is more ongoing but still melodic. "Breakdown" is my personal farvorite and is a fast track with cool riffs. "No Ways" is slower, but with raw guitar riffs and heavy pumping bass and drums. "You're Gone" is the obligatory ballad, and is also the only track I don't like, it's too long and boring.

In the end, I would like to say that Breaker is a rather exciting band that is worth keeping an eye on in the future. Their 2 demo tapes can be bought on a cassette for only SEK 35.
