SWEDEN ROCKS THE WORLDHard Rock/Metal has today, as a genre and phenomenon, been around for 30 years, something most people are aware of. What perhaps not many know is that the Swedish Hard Rock/Metal scene has existed for almost just as long. Sure, for the common listener it was during the 80's, mainly due to Europe's success, that it really started to get attention and reach out to a wider audience. If you talk about Swedish Hard Rock and Metal you can't ignore their importance. Europe had many predecessors (for instance bands like November, Neon Rose and Heavy Load), but it was without doubt they who opened the door to the international market. Europe was to be followed by acts like Yngwie J. Malmsteen, Bathory, Candlemass, Electric Boys, Entombed, Clawfinger, Hammerfall etc. Today, Swedish Hard Rock/Metal is respected all around the world and the quality of the Swedish bands is high, very high.
It's my love for and devotion to Swedish Hard Rock/Metal that made me want to put together a compilation to promote it. This, as well as my desire to make more people aware of all the great bands we have now and have had in the past. The idea was to let today's Swedish bands present their forerunners by covering one of their songs. This, as I wanted to do something different, something that would make it feel fresher, more interesting and more up-to-date than a traditional compilation. Today's bands will get a lot of attention, at the same time as some of the bands that have meant something during 30 years will be presented, hopefully to a more or less new audience.
On this album you will find everything that you could possibly ask for from an album and the Hard Rock/Metal genre in general. It features great bands, great songs, great musicianship, speed and power as well as melodies and nuances. I sincerely hope you are open-minded enough to appreciate the mix, and realize... Sweden Rocks The World!
