Formed 1985 in Malmö, Sweden. SADWINGS was signed only after a couple of months of rehearsal by the British label Criminal Response Records. Their debut LP 'Lonely Hero' was released in 1985. In 1987 SADWINGS moved to California, USA to try the luck, they stayed for 2 years before moving back to Sweden. They disbanded shortly afterwards. Guitarist Peter Espinoza later joined NASTY IDOLS.
Biography by Janne Stark (taken from the 2019 reissue of "Lonely Hero"). Sadwings was formed in 1985 in Southern Sweden, Hässleholm. Some of the members also came from Malmö. The line-up featured Tony Ekfeldt (vocals), Peter Espizona (guitar), Patrick Berg (guitar), Tommy Persson (bass) and Magnus Hörberg (drums). The style was 70's influenced hard rock, in the same vein as Swedish colleagues Six Feet Under. The band was soon picked up by UK label Criminal Response Records, who released the band's debut album 'Lonely Hero' in 1985. The album was produced by Anders "String" Strengberg (Sacrifice).
After the album, guitarist Peter Espinoza left the band to join sleazy rockers Nasty Idols. He was replaced by Paul Ottosson. On August 13, 1987 the band, who had now become more influenced by band like Aerosmith and Guns 'N Roses, flew to Los Angeles to become rock stars. They were soon picked up by a manager who let the band move in on his ranch north of Los Angeles. They rehearsed at the ranch and played the clubs of Los Angeles.
Finally, things started happening and they were offered a tour together with Vixen. Unfortunately the manager got ill and sadly passed away due to a brain tumor. Things fell apart and in 1990 some of the band returned to Sweden. Paul however stayed on and started getting into mixing. Today he is a world famous movie sound engineer who has mixed the sound for movies such as "Spiderman 2" (for which he was nominated for an Oscar) and 3, and the "Hurt Locket", for which he was given two Oscars. He still lives in Los Angeles.
After Nasty Idols, Peter Espinoza went on to form his own band Espinoza, and he was later in bands like Majestic, Reptilian, Rampage and Bai Bang. Patrick Berg recorded an album with pub rock band Without Tom, released on Warner Bros. Singer Tony (now Dante Ekfeldt) is playing bass in indie pop band Golden Kanine.
